Steve Bellon earned his CPA* designation in 1984 and started his career with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG), one of the world’s largest and most prestigious CPA firms. Steve worked in the Tax department where his responsibilities included tax planning and tax preparation for large, publicly traded corporations.
In 1987, Steve left Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and went to work for a small, local CPA firm in Brewster, New York. At this local firm Steve specialized in Tax Planning for family-owned businesses.
Today, Steve is a Financial Advisor with Fortis Lux, a uniquely positioned wealth management firm, where he provides guidance to business owners in the following areas: Retirement Planning, Business Valuation Services, Succession and Exit Planning, and Business Financial Planning. In 2014 Steve earned the Certified Family Business Specialist (CFBS) designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The CFBS curriculum is an accredited, graduate-level program designed to broaden an advisor’s knowledge and insight into the inner workings and challenging dynamics of family-owned businesses and closely-held corporations.
Steve, an avid hockey fan, is a founding board member of the North Rockland Youth Hockey Association, an organization that provides all children in his community the opportunity to participate in youth hockey. In addition, Steve has also run the New York City Marathon twice to raise funds to benefit our youth. As a member of Team for Kids Steve raised funds to provide free health and fitness programs for underprivileged children. In addition, as a member of Fred’s Team, Steve raised funds that were donated to Memorial Sloan-Kettering for pediatric cancer research.
In his leisure time, Steve enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife, Jeannie, and their two children.
