John Salina joined our firm as a Managing Director in 2019. With 12 years of experience managing high performing advisors and advisor teams, John understands what it takes to help advisors take their practice to the next level. “I’ve worked with driven individuals for my entire professional career,” he explains. “I’ve developed a specialty around helping already successful people to elevate their business, by doing whatever is in my power to remove roadblocks to their advancement.” For many advisors, in John’s experience, that amounts to working in a business-friendly environment, with access to deep resources and expert guidance on growing people, processes and practices. This is precisely what led John to connect with the leadership at Fortis Lux. After having established himself as a leading recruiter and nationally recognized sales manager at JP Morgan Chase and New York Life, John had developed an impressive recruiting and leadership portfolio. As he managed successively larger and more elite teams and operations, he knew that greater freedom and flexibility for those he led would be vital to the growth of his organization.
“I didn’t necessarily know what shape that flexibility may take, but I knew that the cookie-cutter model of practice development doesn’t work past the entry phase of the career, ” John says. “The moment I was introduced to Fortis Lux, I knew I had found what I was looking for … ” he adds. John is on a mission to work with highly entrepreneurial advisors who have outgrown (or can foresee the limitations of) their existing business framework, and are searching for flexibility, innovation and professional support. John grew up in Long Island, has worked in midtown Manhattan for the majority of his career, and now resides in Westchester County with his wife Ciara and their son Luca. He prides himself on striking a balance between being physically active: “5am gym sessions daily, practicing wrestling and mixed martial arts,” and “kicking back with my wife and family over a delicious meal and glass of wine.”
